Biography

I was born in South Central Louisiana. Culture and family remain very big parts of my life. I was drawn to counseling while in high school. Between my love of talking to people and getting to know them, as well as my desire to make a positive change in the world, a career in a helping profession was a no-brainer.

I attended Louisiana State University for both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Following graduation I worked in a day treatment setting for the chronically mentally ill for approximately two and a half years. The end of my work in this type of setting came shortly after moving to Austin, Texas in 2007. It was at this time that I began working at Phoenix Academy of Austin, a residential drug treatment facility for adolescents. I remained there for two and a half years years before moving onto to the University of Texas Clinical Mental Health Center and this private practice.
